\nBlackbirds silently fly in retreat
\nWinds mildly gusting from the Artic north
\nLeaves softly trembling in the Fall:
\nSeasons pass through their rebirth cycles
\nBut not the old man at the edge of the pond<\/p>\n
Winter\u2019s blasts in wind and rain
\nWill purge the earth it replenishes
\nAs naked trees stand firm on guard
\nWaiting the sun\u2019s undoubted return
\nBurrowing roots to nurture new life
\nBut not the old man at the door of death<\/p>\n
Spring will warm the slumbering roots
\nBurst the seeds that were scattered in Winter
\nNurture fresh fledglings in far flung beds
\nAs they\u2019re born from the womb of earth
\nTo service nature\u2019s quest for rebirth
\nBut not the old man whose future is barren<\/p>\n
Red winged blackbirds nest
\nFilling the pond with song
\nHeralding the reeds green shoots
\nWelcoming Summer\u2019s awakening
\nBut not the old man\u2019s reckoning
\nOf days left without renewal.<\/p>\n
Born of the stars in the cauldron of the sun
\nSprung from earth\u2019s dust both alive and aware
\nHumans are each moment beware
\nOf passing into eternity
\nWhile contemplating the mystery
\nOf being present to nature\u2019s summons.<\/p>\n
